Goodbye Paris is a musical written by Paul Ledoux and John Roby about The Lost Generation that focuses on characters “lost in the shadows” of the iconic figures of Hemingway and the Fitzgeralds. Our characters are young, ambitious and entangled in a complex web of conflicts driven by the corrosive power of fame and confused sexual identities. They live in a narcissistic community feeding off of each other’s lives to create their art. Everyone is on the make. Everyone is falling in love with the wrong person. It's a laugh riot until a long simmering conflict between Hemingway and his former lover Robert McAlmon knocks their world sideways. And the comedy gets a little darker.

Goodbye Paris will be performed by students from the Dan School of Drama and Music, where they have enrolled in a four-week intensive music theatre internship in performance, music direction, direction, stage management, pit musicianship and design.

Canadian Chamber Choir: Seasons of Life and Landscape

  • The Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

As a member of the Queen’s University Polyhymnia Vocal Ensemble, Michelle is proud to take part in an exciting collaborative concert with the Canadian Chamber Choir!

On March 20th and 21st, the Dan School of Drama & Music in collaboration with The Kingston Chamber Choir are bringing the Canadian Chamber Choir to The Isabel. This collaboration will include workshops with the choral ensembles and composition students.

On the evening of Wednesday, March 20th there will be a concert featuring the Canadian Chamber Choir under the direction of Dr. Julia Davids, along with performances by the Kingston Chamber Choir and Polyhymnia Vocal Ensemble of Queen’s University. This collaboration will bring together a professional, community, and student choir at a remarkable concert showcasing Canadian choral talent.

This concert of all Canadian music will include many modern Canadian compositions, and we are thrilled that six of the composers will be present that evening. These include works by our own Dr. John Burge and Dr. Dean Burry, along with Martha Hill Duncan, Jeff Ens, Yuang Chen (Queen’s graduate), and Laura Hawley (all of whom will be present), and additional works by Stephen Chatman, Imant Raminsh, Sarah Quartel, and many others. Bass clarinetist Jeff Reilly will also be featured along with Queen’s clarinet professor Dr. Kornel Wolak.

The Juno nominated Canadian Chamber Choir are one of the most celebrated choirs in North America, and we are thrilled to be welcoming them to the Isabel.

Please consider purchasing a ticket for this event, celebrating choral singers and composers both close to home, and from across Canada.

Michelle will be featured in the role of Messenger and Chorus Member in the Dan School of Drama and Music's Major Musical Production of "Birds”.

Jennifer Wise, who has translated Aristophanes several times (including, most recently, the version of Lysistrata produced by Bard on the Beach in BC), has been commissioned to write a new version of the work that will feature all of her trademark wit and ingenuity. Aristophanes’s original play, first performed in 414 BCE, told the story of two Athenian citizens, who, fed up with the corruption of city life, decide to build a new and better society among the wild birds to the north. However, it becomes clear that it is not so easy to make a new kingdom in your own image while avoiding the vices of tyranny.

Our version will be set in Eastern Ontario and will feature two Queen’s students who set off into the wild areas north of Kingston to locate the Kingfisher and his subjects in Loonland. The local birds will be represented in masks designed by Clelia Scala and costumes designed by Laura Dionne. The songs in the play will be adaptations of rousing traditional folk songs performed under the music direction of Darrell Bryan. Directing the show will be Professor Craig Walker, Director of the Dan School of Drama and Music.
